How to overcome financial problems………

How to overcome financial problems………

A young couple at Lakewood had about $40,000 in credit card debt. They were embarrassed and distraught over it. They didn’t see any way out. In the natural, it looked impossible. Then one day, they took a step of faith; they swallowed their pride and met with one of the financial counselors at a ministry. That counselor studied their finances and gave then instructions in how they could overcome their financial problems, step by step. The couple committed themselves to getting out of debt, and for three years they didn’t go out to eat, they didn’t take any vacations, they didn’t buy extra clothes. They lived on a bare-bones budget. It was an uncomfortable situation and was a sacrifice. But they were overturning years of wrong choices, forming better habits, and establishing a foundation for years of right choices. They quit using their credit cards. They learned the difference between their wants and their needs. They started practicing discipline and self-control. Three years later, that young couple is totally debt-free and God is blessing them. They’re seeing increase and promotion. And it all started when they decided to form better habits. They drew a line in the sand and said, “That’s it. We are not living like this anymore.” The first step to overcoming any habit or addiction is to identify what holding you back. People struggle with chemical and drug addictions, being addicted to movies, anger addiction and all sorts of other maladies. Understand that you can change. Freedom is available. God already has a path of success laid out for you. But you must do your part and be willing to walk it out. The next time that temptation comes, the first thing you should do is to pray and involve God in that situation, because we cannot defeat bad habits with our own strength. God’s power in you is greater than the power that is holding you back.
